Jim was in-need of a new project. In the summer of 2021, he found himself drawn to another worthy challenge: finally visiting every state park in Vermont—that’s 55 of them—in a single season.

Every year since 2016, Vermont Parks Forever (VPF) has granted passes to organizations working state-wide.

We're bringing back our first-of-its kind parks access pilot for year TWO, and again welcoming more than 100,000 income-eligible Vermonters to Vermont State Parks.

Vermont Parks Forever, the only non-profit foundation for Vermont’s 55 state parks, is excited to announce the success of its first-in-the-nation, privately funded pilot program that provided over 30,000 free day-use visits to Vermont State Parks in 2025. This program, for eligible Vermonters with lower income, will continue in 2026.

In 2025, we launched a first-in-the-nation pilot program welcoming over 100,000 eligible Vermonters free day-use of all 55 Vermont State Parks.
