It’s the 11th season of Vermont Parks Forever’s internship program on Mt. Philo, and this year, thanks to the support of our donors, we are expanding to welcome two interns! Connor and Jillian are working to keep Mt. Philo well-maintained and welcome visitors to Vermont’s first state park. Connor is enjoying meeting new people and the amazing view from the contact station, while Jillian is glad she gets to give back to the mountain she enjoys hiking with her family.

The William Cameron Hagedorn Mt. Philo Forever Fund internship program was created in memory of Will, who left an indelible mark on this jewel of a mountain. As former park manager Colleen said, “The unique opportunities that interns receive go beyond fostering independence and a love for serving our community. They learn leadership skills from previous interns that return each year. The internship program instills pride and hard work in our interns that translates to long term success as park attendants year after year.” In other words, this internship is an annual success!
