Rachel Desautels
Williston
Rachel spent her childhood outside of Phoenix and moved east to Pennsylvania as a teenager. While attending Penn State, she met her future husband Mike, who is originally from Burlington. Rachel spent the next fifteen years visiting the Green Mountain State and eventually relocated to Williston in 2011 when her kids were four and six. Prior to moving to Vermont, Rachel spent the first fourteen years of her career in the NYC and the northern NJ area in national television media buying. Her new home helped her discover the world of nonprofit not long after arriving in VT. Rachel started working for Girls on the Run Vermont and has worn a number of hats over the last twelve years, including coaching. Now the Executive Director or Girls on the Run Vermont, Rachel passionately helps guide the statewide nonprofit so that more girls in 3rd-8th grade can have access to GOTRVT programming in an effort to nurture their social, emotional, and physical wellbeing. Nonprofit work has enriched her life in ways that has greatly benefited both her and her family.
Raising her kids in Vermont, who are now both in college, is one of the best decisions Rachel and her husband made for their family. Their kids have had the good fortune to experience a childhood enjoying all of the beauty of Vermont - on Lake Champlain and in the gorgeous state parks - as well as alongside the wonderful people who call Vermont home. Rachel has spent a great deal of time outside over the years and she looks forward to supporting VPF to ensure the parks remain accessible to folks for years to come.
Rachel spends her free time outside and has a special love and appreciation for Vermont summers. You'll find her on her paddle board, running, walking, or hiking.
