Gratia Rowell

East Berkshire

Gratia is originally from Albany, a small town in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Gratia grew up on a dairy farm and spent her days biking on the many miles of dirt road that the Northeast Kingdom has. Gratia left the Northeast Kingdom to attend Simmons University in Boston where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

While in college, Gratia was lucky enough to get a summer job working for Vermont State Parks at Elmore State Park. Through this job, Gratia not only fostered her love for the parks, but also met her now-husband, a coworker at Elmore. Fast-forward a couple years, and Gratia and Rory got married - at Elmore State Park!

After moving to Albany, New York so Rory could attend law school, they then set their sights on Alaska. While living in Alaska, Gratia completed her Master in Public Policy degree with a thesis focused on energy justice, fuel poverty, and changes that could be made to the Renewable Energy Fund to improve program equity. Gratia was privileged to work on research with the Alaska Center for Energy and Power. After a few years in Alaska, the urge to return to Vermont became too strong to resist and the couple relocated in August of 2023.

Now based in East Berkshire, Gratia can be found outside with her dogs (Gus and Hugo), biking on the nearby rail trail, and nerding out on policy and legislation. On the weekends, you can find Gratia attempting to visit as many parks as possible during this beautiful summer!
